Explanation courses:
Discover Scuba Diving (1 or 2 dives, equipment included)
This course for beginners gives you the opportunity to try what it’s like, being underwater and breathing. At shallow depths and after a few basic exercises, you can get acquainted with the underwater world under the guidance of your diving instructor. You can take this first dip in the pool or in the sea of your choice. Upon completion, you will have the opportunity to participate in one of our PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water courses. Both courses conclude with an internationally recognized diving certification.
PADI Scuba Diver (pool, 2 sea dives, equipment and certification included)
The PADI Scuba Diver course is designed for those, who want to become certified, but do not have the time to do a complete Open Water Diver course. Upon completion you will receive an internationally recognized certification from PADI, the world’s largest diving association. This certification authorizes you to dive up to 12 meters deep, under the guidance of a PADI divemaster or instructor. Ideal for vacations! At any time and practically anywhere in the world, you can upgrade this certification to the PADI Open Water certification (so-called Open Water MODULE).
PADI Open Water Diver (pool, 4 sea dives, equipment and certification included)
The Open Water course includes pool lessons and four dives in the sea. Upon completion you will receive an international certification allowing you to buy and rent diving equipment or have your scuba tank filled with compressed air. With this certification in your pocket, you can visit with us the best dive sites of Menorca, up to a maximum depth of 18 meters. Each day we’ll bed 2 of the 45 dive sites on the program, accompanied by a dive guide.
The Open Water MODULE is a continuation of the PADI Scuba Diver course and includes pool lessons and 2 dives in the sea.
The Open Water REFERRAL includes five dives in the sea and is for students who have already completed their theory and pool and want to do their outdoor water dives in Menorca. The first dive is a refresher dive in which the pool exercises are repeated.
PADI Adventure Diver (3 dives)
The Adventure Diver course is new and intended for those divers, who are interested in special dives (cave diving, deep diving, wreck diving, night diving) or dives using special techniques (e.g. boat diving, underwater photography, search & salvage.) Choose three different diving activities that appeal to you and you will not only get the Adventure Diver certification, but you will also be on your way to becoming an Advanced Open Water Diver!
PADI Advanced Open Water (5 dives)
Why stop after your Open Water certification? PADI’s continuing education courses provide you with a wealth of experience in a short period of time. That means more safety, more confidence and learning new techniques under the guidance of your dive instructor. This practical course consists of five dives, including navigation, deep diving and three dives of your choice, such as wreck diving, night diving or underwater photography. Upon completion, you will be certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver.
PADI Rescue Diver (5 dives)
The next course after Advanced is the Rescue Diver course, in which you are trained to help yourself and others. You will also learn, to avoid emergencies whenever possible or deal with them, should they happen. The Rescue course consists of five training units, which include dealing with a diver in panic, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in the water and First Aid for diving accidents. After completing this course you will be more confident and able to help other divers. If desired, we can extend this course with the DAN course “oxygen First Aid for diving accidents.”
PADI Master Scuba Diver (application to PADI)
The title “Master Scuba Diver” is the highest non-teaching certification you can obtain in sport diving. It is awarded only to those, who have gained a lot of knowledge and experience. To qualify for this title, you must be at least a PADI Rescue Diver and hold 5 PADI Specialty Diver certifications. Son Bou Scuba (SBS) can offer you various specialties such as deep diving, cave diving and wreck diving to name a few….
PADI Divemaster (2 - 3 weeks of training in the diving school)
If you have 2 to 3 weeks of vacation in Menorca, love to dive and maybe even want to become a diving instructor, at SBS you have the opportunity, to do your PADI Divemaster course. These will be your first steps on the professional path, which is why this course has nothing to do with brewing coffee or hauling scuba tanks….
With us, you will learn how to interact with divers, give briefings of dive sites, assist with other courses and guide divers during their dives; as if you were already a divemaster! We also teach you everything you need to know about physical, equipment and teaching, among other things, so that your theoretical knowledge is on the same level as a diving instructor.

For divemasters, assistant instructors and instructors, we offer several courses to increase your professional knowledge, such as DAN Oxygen Instructor and EFR First Aid Instructor. If you want to know more about any of these courses please send us an email or stop by the dive center.
