Course explanation:
Try dive - Discover Scuba (1 or 2 dives)
The PADI Discover Scuba course is the easiest way to discover the underwater world. This introductory dive is ideal for beginners, as no prior knowledge is required. Under the supervision of one of our diving instructors, you will enjoy your first underwater experience. There are a maximum of 4 participants in the group, so personal attention is guaranteed. Although this experience does not lead to a diving certificate, it will help you decide whether a PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver course might be something for you. All you need is your swimwear, sunscreen and a towel.
PADI Scuba Diver
This course is part of the Open Water Diver course. If you’re short on time but still want to become a certified diver, then the PADI Scuba Diver course is what you’re looking for. It qualifies you to dive to a depth of 12 metres under the supervision of a dive guide. You will do two dives, which are done on one day. Afterwards, you will receive an internationally recognised PADI diving certificate (eCard), which is valid for life.
Upgrade Open Water
You can upgrade from PADI Scuba Diver to Open Water Diver at any time. To do so, you’ll need to read the last two chapters of the OWD digital learning programme, take the final exam and then complete the remaining two dives in the sea. These dives are done in one day. Included in the course is a replacement eCard that reflects your new status as an Open Water Diver.
PADI Open Water Diver
You can start the Open Water Diver course straight away, or do the Discover Scuba or PADI Scuba Diver course first. The choice is yours! With the Open Water course, you may dive to a maximum depth of 18 metres. A total of four dives are completed over two days. Once the exercises for each dive have been completed, your instructor will take you on a fun dive.
Junior Open Water Diver
For 10 to 14-year-olds, there is the Junior Open Water Diver course. This course allows diving to a depth of 12 metres. Apart from the depth, the Junior OWD is the same as the Open Water Diver course. When the diver turns 15, a replacement eCard can be ordered to indicate the new status as Open Water Diver.
Open Water Referral
The Open Water Referral course consists of four dives, including a refresher dive. This course is intended for those who have already completed their theory and pool lessons before their holiday. With PADI’s digital eLearning programme, you can complete the theory and final exam at home at your own pace. You then take your pool lessons at a local diving centre. Once you have completed the pool lessons, you are ready for your Open Water dives in Menorca. You can start the Open Water Referral course whenever you want, as long as you complete the Open Water dives within 12 months of starting the course.
PADI Adventure Diver
Ready for the next step? The PADI Adventure Diver course is part of the Advanced OW course and is ideal for those who have limited time while on holiday. The course consists of three dives that you can choose in consultation with us, such as wreck diving, underwater photography and night diving. Once you have chosen three dives, you’ll read the relevant chapters in your e-Learning manual. You’ll then complete the knowledge reviews and your instructor will give you a briefing before each dive. That’s it! No exam, just lots of practice
PADI Advanced Open Water
Ready for your next adventure? The PADI Advanced OW course introduces you to a range of new diving opportunities and certifies you to dive to 30 metres. New skills will give you more confidence. The course consists of five dives, including a deep dive and a navigation dive. You choose the other three dives in consultation with us. Once you have chosen your five dives, you’ll read the relevant chapters in your e-Learning manual. You’ll then complete the knowledge reviews and your instructor will give you a briefing before each dive. That’s it! No exam, just lots of practice
PADI Rescue Diver
In the PADI Rescue Diver course, you will learn how to prevent and respond to emergencies using a variety of techniques. During five dives, consisting of four training sessions with rescue scenarios, you will put your knowledge and skills into practice. Divers describe the Rescue Diver course as the most challenging, but also the most rewarding course they have ever taken. A prerequisite for certification is a first aid certificate no older than 24 months, or you can take the PADI EFR – First Aid & CPR course during training.
PADI Master Scuba Diver (application to PADI)
Become a Master Scuba Diver at Son Bou Scuba! The MSD certification is the highest non-professional certification in the PADI system. This certification means that you have gained a considerable amount of training and experience in a variety of diving environments. To obtain MSD certification, you’ll need the PADI Rescue Diver certification and five PADI specialities. MSD is a recognition; this means that you fill out an application and send it to PADI for assessment.
PADI Divemaster (2 weeks of training in the dive centre)
PADI Divemaster is the first step on the professional path. With the digital learning programme, you can learn the theory at home at your leisure, so that you arrive in Menorca well prepared for the practical part. In collaboration with your PADI instructor, you will refine your diving and rescue skills, and learn to organise scuba diving activities and guide divers. Approximately 25 dives are included, allowing you to gain plenty of practical experience.
Pro training
For Divemasters, Assistant Instructors and Instructors we offer several courses to increase your professional knowledge, such as Oxygen First Aid Instructor and EFR First Aid Instructor. Please visit the dive centre or send us an email if you would like additional information about these courses.
